Students and staff of the Manchester Twp. School District immediately sprung into action to help the Haitian earthquake victims, with fundraisers planned and already underway at every school.

At the High School, the Cultural Awareness Club is coordinating a collection during lunch and selling cookies to benefit the relief efforts. Students have taken the initiative to make a difference, spearheaded by seniors Brittany J. and Nadin R., and juniors Brittany L. and Jennifer S. They made collection bins which are placed out at lunches for students to donate money to the Red Cross. Their goal is to reach $500. Anyone wishing to donate to the MTHS "Help for Haiti" fund can drop off donations to the main office in care of teacher Mrs. Boggs.
At the Middle School, the Gifted and Talented students raised money through a bake sale on-the-go (nearly $400 in 3 days). The Middle School Impact Club will sponsor a fundraising campaign called ‘Hats Off to the People of Haiti’ to send money to World Vision, an organization that was one of the first to help the people of Haiti. Donations of $3 for teachers or $1 for students will allow you to wear your favorite hat or cap in school on Friday, Feb. 5. Tickets will be sold during all flex periods during the week of Jan. 25 and in the lunchroom on Feb. 1.
The Whiting School Impact Club has planned several projects around a ‘caring’ theme, with funds raised going to Hope for Haiti. On PJ day (Jan. 21), students and staff who donate $1 in homeroom will wear pajamas to school. Students will also make red, white and blue friendship bracelets (colors in Haitian flag) and sell them to show that they care about the victims of the earthquake. 'Caring Kisses for Kids of Earthquake' is another Whiting School project in which small bags of candy kisses will be sold around Valentine's Day for $1. A 'Caring Change Contest,' similar to penny wars, will be run by the 5th grade. Also planned is a puzzle bulletin board called 'Helping Haiti Piece by Piece,' which will show the names of all students that participate in this fundraiser. They will sign their name on the map of the island of Haiti.
At Manchester Township Elementary School, the Jr. Impact Club is holding a fundraiser called "Hats for Haiti." The whole school will be involved on Friday, January 22. Everyone is encouraged to donate a dollar and wear a hat for the day. Proceeds will be donated to "CARE."
Ridgeway School has a few initiatives going on to raise funds for Haiti. They have a former student who went back to Haiti just before the earthquake happened. They have heard he and his family are safe, but their home was destroyed, so they are hoping to raise money for his family. They kicked off their fund drive with 'Helping Hands for Haiti.' Staff members and families who donate will sign their name on a hand cutout that will be displayed in the building. The Ridgeway Junior Impact Club will be raising money as well. They will be hanging baby pictures of staff members and students will vote for the cutest child by placing coins in its container.
At Regional Day School, the Kid's Cafe is donating proceeds to the Red Cross.
