FAQ Meet and Greet: March 20th (Period 5)

Current NHS Members & Officers will be available to share their own NHS experiences & explain the benefits of being an active member of our NHS Chapter.

Candidate Eligibility Meeting & Notifications: Week of March 31st

Eligible Sophomores and Juniors will receive notification of eligibility along with an invitation to attend a Candidate Meeting. Overview of the NHS Portfolio & Review Process and Chapter Responsibilities will be addressed by MTHS Administration, Chapter Advisor, & Chapter Officers.

Candidacy Portfolio Submissions for Classes of 2026 & 2027: April 1st-April 15th (2-Week Window for Candidate Materials)

All eligible sophomores & juniors will receive an invitation to the Google Classroom for NHS Candidates. Recommendation Info, Application Info, & Essay(s) will be submitted digitally with the deadline of April 15th at the close of the school day (2:25 PM). This deadline cannot be extended or adjusted: This is the ONLY candidate window for the MTHS NHS Chapter (Spring Inductions only for rising juniors and seniors).

Faculty Council Review: April 16th-May 12th.

NHS Candidates will be reviewed by our MTHS NHS Faculty Council using the eligibility rubric and MTHS Faculty/Recommenders' feedback. All community service and volunteerism submissions will be verified by the Chapter Advisor.

NHS Acceptance Letters: Anticipated for May 14th.

2026-27 NHS Induction Night: Thurs., May 22nd at 6:00 PM

NHS Senior Service Project

Now accepting Donations for MTSD Students:

MTHS Service Projects & Volunteer Opportunities 

All students have the opportunity to join InnerView in order to:

A. Discover new school, community, state, national, and virtual opportunities to volunteer and earn community service hours

B. Explore how other student leaders are getting involved on the local and national level

C. Organize and compile all accumulated community service hours to include on their resumes, applications, etc. 

D. Earn recognition and scholarship opportunities as they are recognized for their local and global impacts

If sophomore and junior applicants are accepted into NHS, they may then join the NHS InnerView Page for additional opportunities specific to NHS.

NHS Tutors are available Mon, Tues, & Thurs in the MTHS media center.

Students are encouraged to see their Guidance Counselor or Instructor for details. NHS Tutors receive 1 hour of community service (max of 5 hours per semester) for each tutoring session or study hall they attend.

Spring Study Buddies & Reading Buddies

NHS Tutors are also available to assist elementary & middle school students at our weekly Study Buddy Sessions held at Manchester Library. NHS Study Buddy Volunteers are available every Thursday from the hours of 5-7 PM. Please contact hstaples@mtschools.org for more details.

Our MTHS NHS Chapter is PROUD to support Make-a-Wish NJ during the months of April-June. Help our Hawks reach their goal of Sponsoring a Wish for $2500.

• Make-A-Wish Pickleball Tournament in May (Registration Details Coming Soon)

• Make-A-Wish Week at MTHS from May 19th-23rd (lunch & school events)

• Make-A-Wish Ice Cream Social & BINGO Event on June 6th at MTHS Caf from 5-7:00PM

• A Tour of the Make-A-Wish Castle (June Date TBA)
