Student Assistance Counselor
Ms. Samantha Galletta LAC/SAC
Dear Manchester Township Families,
With every school year comes change and new beginnings. One of those changes to Manchester Township Middle School is the addition of a Student Assistance Counselor (SAC). As the new SAC, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and what my role is within the school.
For those who do not know me, my name is Samantha Galletta and I have been a Spanish teacher in the district since 2016. However, I have made the transition this year to become the Student Assistance Counselor. I graduated from Kean University with my Master’s degree in School Counseling, I am licensed through the state of New Jersey as a Licensed Associate Counselor and I am a New Jersey certified Student Assistance Counselor. The role of the SAC is to provide a wide range of prevention, intervention and educational services to the various mental health and substance use needs of our students. An increasingly large number of adolescents are in crisis, and concerns such as drug and alcohol use, violence, bullying, depression, suicide, stress, anxiety and other social/emotional issues threaten the well being of our students and their families. The SAC provides in-school counseling and referral services to any student experiencing the aforementioned difficulties. The goal of the SAC is to provide support and prevent personal difficulties from affecting academic success.
Every child who is either referred to the SAC or seeks support on their own is legally entitled to private and confidential services as per federal law 42.CFR. While services are confidential, if you feel your student is in need of these services, please call the middle school or send me a direct email with your student’s name and reason for referral. I do keep an open-door policy and students may drop by my office at any time.
I am very excited and honored to offer our students the social/emotional and mental health support they may need throughout the school year. If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to contact me at sgalletta@mtschools.org.
Thank you,
Ms. Samantha Galletta LAC/SAC
