About

The Occupational Therapy department at Regional Day School is committed to supporting a student’s successfully participate in “occupations” within all aspects of their school/home environments. We focus on providing our students with the skills necessary to be successful in all areas of their day. Areas that we address are:

  • Academic readiness

  • Classroom seating and positioning for educational success

  • Handwriting

  • Life skills/self-care (i.e. Cooking, Laundry, Washing Dishes)

  • Pre-vocational activities (i.e. Card Making, Computer Coding, Assembly Activities)

  • Sensory motor, perceptual motor and fine motor skills

  • Self regulation/coping skills development

Biography:
Hi! My name is Alex and I joined the RDS family in November 2018. Before starting here I worked in a private pediatric outpatient practice for over 4 years. I had the opportunity to learn about so many different things such as sensory integration, strengthening, coordination, and motor planning and how these skills are necessary for supporting participation in functional activities across all environments. It's great to be able to use clinical knowledge and experience to help students to be as independent as possible. I am really enjoying being an occupational therapist in the school system. So far I have had the opportunity to work with some awesome students and staff. I look forward to continuing to grow and learn with everyone!
