Each month, the Board of Education recognizes staff, as well as students from every school, at their meeting. This month the Board of Education celebrated with the community the following students and staff for their achievements:
Manchester Township Elementary School:
Congratulations to second-grade student Dean Guarino who is Manchester Township Elementary School (MTES)’s Student of the Month! Dean has shown tremendous academic and social growth this year. He is a kind friend and has an amazing sense of humor. Dean is always willing to lend a helping hand to his peers. He exemplifies what it is to be not only an MTES Dragon but also a super student and friend.
Ridgeway Elementary School:
Congratulations to fourth-grade Ridgeway Elementary School (RES) student Christian Warden who has profoundly impacted our school community with his empathy, kindness, and leadership. Christian serves as a role model and trusted supporter, often assisting the school counselor by offering friendship and peer advice to students in need. Christian's ability to validate feelings and provide understanding is exceptional for his age, making him a valued and caring leader in our school.
Whiting Elementary School:
Congratulations Whiting Elementary School (WES) students of the month Claire and Griffin!
Claire Kura is a kind student who always ensures our autistic students feel included. You can always count on Claire to foster inclusivity and brighten everyone’s day with her warm smile.
Griffin Wydrzynski is a compassionate student. When the students from Room 26 (Autism II) join his class for music, he readily offers help and demonstrates how to play the keyboard. In gym class, he goes out of his way to make sure the students in Room 26 are included and that they have any materials they need to fully participate.
Regional Day School:
Jamie Ramirez Serrano is a preschool student who has made tremendous progress this year in all learning domains, especially in the social-emotional and language domains. We are super proud of her and all her efforts and to celebrate her as Regional Day Schools Student of the Month!
Manchester Township Middle School:
It is with great honor that Manchester Township Middle School (MTMS) recognizes 7th Grade Student Owen Williams tonight. Owen is working towards his Eagle Scout status and aiming to achieve 138 badges. In pursuit of badge #91, the weather badge, Owen visited News 12 New Jersey and was an honorary weather person who delivered the 10-day forecast on January 29th. Owen stated he is pursuing the maximum 138 badges to experience as much as possible. He is truly an inspiration and we at MTMS are so proud of him.
This month MTMS is also proud to recognize Ke’Mari Bishop as the winner of the Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest. Ke’Mari placed first in the annual contest receiving recognition for her poster celebrating peace activists and hope for mankind. Ke’Mari is a very talented artist and we are looking forward to seeing where her creativity and talent take her. Congratulations Ke’Mari!
Manchester Township Middle School - Athletes of the Month
MTMS is extremely proud to have Brayden Gavini and Isabella Cellini-Winters represent MTMS as our student-athletes for the month of March. Brayden and Isabella are both a great representation of what it means to be a student-athlete. They are both 8th grade leaders of our baseball and softball/basketball/soccer teams respectively, work just as hard in the classroom as they do in the athletic arena, and serve as an excellent example to our younger student-athletes. Congratulations!
Manchester Township High School:
Congratulations to Manchester Township High School (MTHS) student Sam Garcia who has been chosen by The Academies at Harvard to learn among an elite group of students over the summer as they continue their studies in an On-Campus Pre-Med Academy: Biology and Chemistry in Cambridge. We are so proud of this amazing opportunity that you have to grow in your academics and know that you will represent the Hawk family well!
Manchester Township High School - Student-Athletes of the Month
Jade Andrews and Jacob Quinones were selected as the MTHS student-athletes of the month because they both played significant roles in their teams' success late into the season.
Jade, a 2-time all-division player, led the Lady Hawks in rebounding throughout the season as they won 19 games, including 2 rounds of states. Finally being eliminated in the SJG2 Semi-Finals at Haddon Heights. When she wasn’t rebounding, she was diving on the floor and leading the hustle. Jade was unable to attend the Board Meeting, but we congratulate her on her great season!
Jacob finished with a season average of 202 ppg, helping lead our team to the season game record of 50-1, The Bayshore Holiday Classic, a Division Title & State SJG2 Title. He also finished strong individually by qualifying for the State Individual Tournament. The good news for the Hawks is Jacob returns next season to do it all again. Congratulations Jade & Jacob!
Manchester Township High School - Heather Staples, Teacher
Congratulations to Manchester Township High School teacher, advisor, and student mentor Heather Staples who was recently awarded and recognized as the Youth Community Volunteer Partner of the Year by The Arc, Ocean County Chapter.
Mrs. Staples has driven the effort to recruit MTHS student volunteers for wellness programs at the ARC. Students actively participate in supporting the ARC’s Field Day, Flag Football games, and Kickball Tournaments. Her work has provided a rewarding experience for students who, in turn, help the ARC to reach its mission of advocating and providing opportunities and the support necessary for all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be accepted and valued as citizens of the community in which they choose to live, learn, work and play. Congratulations Mrs. Staples and thank you for all you do!
