FEBRUARY 2024 BOE MEETING - STUDENT RECOGNITIONS!

Each month, the Board of Education recognizes students from every school at their meeting. This month the Board of Education celebrated the following students and their achievements with the community:

Manchester Township Elementary School:

MTES students Kenny Azambuja, Emma Grausso, Hailey Fink, Gavin Pinca, Manny Flores-Medina, Savanna Fecanin, Nicole Korankye, and Aubriana Prendimano are the fifth-grade Dragons responsible for MTES’ live news broadcast each morning. They work hard during recess, after school, and even on weekends to ensure MTES has a top-quality daily newscast. Thank you for your hard work and dedication each day!

Ridgeway Elementary School:

Ridgeway Elementary School students Freddy Chavez-Cruz, Alana Hodges, Eros Lewis-Gordon, Jose Mogrovejo-Campana, Damien Mortellite, and Kenzie White met with cafeteria staff of Pomptonian, the school district’s food service provider. These students were selected to provide quality feedback regarding the meals served to our Ridgeway students for breakfast and lunch each day. Their feedback provided valuable suggestions to make future modifications to the menu choices to serve the students on a daily basis better. Thank you for your time and contribution to our school community!

Whiting Elementary School:

Whiting Elementary School’s Junior Impact students decided to conduct a school-wide Souper Bowl Challenge. Students donated over 400 cans of soup for donation to a local food bank. The students were given a can to guess the winner. School-wide, the predicted winner was successful. The students also participated in the district-wide cereal wars and assisted with bringing them to the food pantry located at The Barn.

Regional Day School:

Congratulations to Shandrea for being named Regional Day School’s Student of the Month! Shandrea is a very friendly young lady with the most beautiful and contagious smile. She loves music and knows all the lyrics to songs from Disney movies. Shandrea has a great sense of humor and she always reminds us of the schedule by saying, “It’s time for lunch.” or “Time to go home.” Shandrea makes sure that we can hear her clear request for a cookie, which is her reward at the end of the day for good behavior.  Congratulations to our Student of the Month!

Manchester Township Middle School:

MTMS would like to recognize Jose Serrano-Ramirez for his achievements as a middle school student. Jose is a student who always does his best, puts forth effort, and is motivated to do well.  He is a kind, caring student who gets along well with his peers and is always eager to help others.  He is appreciative of what others do for him and does express that.  Jose has made significant progress academically this year in all his classes.  As an eighth grader, he is a true leader among his peers.  Our class runs Mustang Joe's, a school-wide coffee cart, and Jose is a leader in making "102 Made" treats in class to sell on the coffee cart.  He is a "top employee" while working for the coffee cart.  He is an absolute pleasure for others to be around and we are so proud of him!

Manchester Township Middle School – Athletes of the Month:

We are extremely proud to have Michael Masi and Kristin Wysokowski represent MTMS as our Student/Athletes for the month of February. Michael and Kristin are both a great representation of what it means to be a student-athlete. They are both 8th-grade leaders of our Wrestling/Cross Country and Soccer/Basketball teams and respectfully work just as hard in the classroom as they do in the athletic arena and serve as an excellent example to our younger student/athletes.

Manchester Township High School:

This month MTHS recognizes the outstanding efforts of the MTHS Interact Club members. Their recent initiative to organize a cereal drive benefiting the Joel E. Perlmutter Memorial Food Pantry in Whiting exemplifies their commitment to serving the community and making a positive impact. The cereal drive was a district-wide event, with students from each school coming together to collect cereal donations. Through their hard work and dedication, the Interact students collected an impressive 900 cereal boxes, which the students then delivered and stocked at the Whiting food pantry.
