It has been a very patriotic Veterans Day as our students and staff members hit the road to honor veterans across the community of Manchester today, Veterans Day 2024.
The Manchester Township High School (MTHS) NJROTC students, led by LCDR John Holzer and MACS (SW/AW) and Patrick McKay, USN(RET), traveled around Manchester with the MTHS band and choir to honor our veterans for Veterans Day. They stopped at each of the Manchester Township Schools to provide students and staff with a ceremony and were welcomed downtown for the Manchester Township Veterans Day Ceremony where our student sang the National Anthem and MTHS NJROTC Color Guard joined the Manchester Township Police Department in support of the Township's ceremony.
Their road trip concluded at Manchester Township High School where Manchester's community members, students, staff, parents, Board of Education members, Town Council members, and the Manchester Township Police Department came together to honor our local veterans for Manchester Township High School's 20th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony.
The MTHS 20th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony welcomed to Manchester Township High School the largest crowd to date. Guest speaker Senior Chief Villanueva Nelwan spoke about the importance of uniting as a community to honor and recognize those who have served our nation. He discussed the importance of taking today to reflect on the sacrifices our veterans have made to protect our freedoms citing their inspiring courage, selflessness, and dedication. We also remember the families of those who have shared in our service member's sacrifices and extend our appreciation and thanks to them for their service to our great nation.
The MTHS Concert Band concluded the ceremony with the Armed Service Medley. Veterans in the audience proudly stood, and were honored with applause and cheers from the audience, as their branch song played!
Currently, students and community members are joining our veterans at the Hawks Hall of Honor where they are enjoying coffee, and refreshments, sharing stories as we extend our continued thanks to them and all who served.
