The National Education Association launched Read Across America in 1998 as a year-round program to celebrate reading. Given Dr. Seuss’ impact on the reading world, his birthday which is celebrated on March 2, was therefore declared Read Across America Day. Here in the Manchester Township School District (MTSD) our schools celebrate Read Across America leading up to Dr. Seuss's birthday. The celebrations continue on through to Read Across America Week.
