Each month, the Board of Education recognizes students from every school at their meeting. This month the Board of Education celebrated the following students and their achievements with the community:
Manchester Township Elementary School
Manchester Township Elementary School’s (MTMS) Amelia Kelly, Kaitlyn Van Bergen, Olivia Wnek, Adam Zietek, and Julia Stabinsky are talented musicians. They shared their gifts with the MTMS community as the opening act at their 6th Annual Thanksgiving Day Float Parade. These MTES Dragons are not only talented musicians, but academic superstars as well. We are so proud of them and so lucky to have such talent at MTES.
Ridgeway Elementary School
Ridgeway Elementary School (RES) recognizes the outstanding efforts of the Junior Impact Club advised by Ms. Schenck. These fantastic students have demonstrated remarkable leadership and a deep commitment to their community. Recently, they dedicated their time to cleaning up the Children's Memorial Garden in Toms River. They decorated it beautifully for family and friends who visit those being honored in the garden this holiday season, showcasing their creativity and compassion.
Their support for Helping Hands for Hunger also reflects their understanding of the importance of addressing food insecurity in our community.
Looking ahead, the Junior Impact Club is set to join forces with the school district to collect cereal for the People's Pantry, further exemplifying their dedication to making a positive difference. We are incredibly proud of these young leaders and their inspiring contributions!
Whiting Elementary School
Whiting School’s fifth-grade students worked with enthusiasm as they packed Thanksgiving baskets for families in need for the 2024 Helping Hands for Hunger initiative. Students formed an efficient assembly line, carefully placing canned goods, fresh produce, and other holiday staples into the baskets. Each student had a specific role, from organizing items to double-checking that every basket contained the right amount of food. Thank you to Ryan, Evie, Lexie, Alivia, Mack, William, and Rylie for your time and help in giving back to our community in this way!
Regional Day School
Congratulations to Kevin Dunn, the Regional Day School at Jackson Student of the Month for December. He has adapted very well to his classroom environment. Within a few short months, Kevin has met the expectation to hang up his own jacket and book bag. He will remain in his workspace for work-related tasks. Kevin is eager to start morning activities. He initiates taking out supplies, volunteers to participate, and is also willing to explore new foods and experiences! We are so proud of Kevin!
Manchester Township Middle School
Manchester Township Middle School (MTMS) is so proud to recognize Luciana Garcia and Makenzie Rehfuss as their December Students of the Month. Luciana and Makenzie are bright and committed 8th-grade students who both work hard and are very dedicated. Both girls start off their middle school day as the morning announcers. The girls present the announcements in both English and Spanish informing all our students on what’s happening. They exemplify hard work, determination, and a passion for learning and keeping our school informed. Congratulations, Luciana and Makenzie!
MTMS is extremely proud to have James DeSilva and Kennedy Cervenak represent the school as December’s Student Athletes of the Month. James and Kennedy are both a great representation of what it means to be a student-athlete. They are both 8th-grade leaders of our soccer and wrestling teams, work just as hard in the classroom as they do in the athletic arena, and serve as an excellent example to our younger students and athletes.
