Students across the Manchester Township School District (MTSD) are celebrating the holidays in fun and educational ways together this week as we lead up to winter break 2024.
They have been enjoying visits from Santa and Mrs. Clause, preschoolers are learning how to channel their emotions and excitement with yoga and relaxation exercises as a part of the Exercise Unit for Creative Curriculum, and students are also learning and presenting about how countries around the world celebrate the holidays, hearing holiday stories shared by special guests, and even building gingerbread houses with their families:
(Regional Day School students are among the many Santa and Mrs. Clause visited across the MTSD!)
(Mrs. Cataldo's daughter, a yoga enthusiast, shared her stretch and relaxation yoga techniques with preschool students during the holiday week at Whiting Elementary School!)
(Mrs. Hawkins and Mr. Wagner's classes at Ridgeway Elementary School shared their Holidays Around the World presentations with their school community. Students did a fantastic job researching and presenting about the holiday traditions in various countries!)
(Superintendent Pedroza reads holiday stories to students while parents visit classrooms for fun holiday activities, such as constructing and decorating gingerbread houses!)
(The MTES PTA Volunteers brought holiday cheer all season long. Here they are after Hot Cocoa Day!)
The older students across the district have been getting into the holiday spirit as well! Manchester Township Middle School has been busy spreading holiday cheer inside and outside of the building. They are singing and sharing their musical talents all around the community while enjoying ugly sweater contests, sharing jolly cups of java, participating in a school-wide volleyball game, and delivering candy canes across their school to share holiday messages of joy and friendship:
MTMS 7th graders participated in a gingerbread STEM challenge where they earned points for having certain criteria on their house. Their constraints were that it had to fit on a plate, could not be built from a kit, and had to be finished in 3 class periods. Staff and students also voted for the best decorated, most festive, and best effort. They did a great job!
While Manchester Township High School is keeping us in suspense with the winners of their Deck the Halls competition, the MTHS Key Club and MTHS French students had another successful trip to New York City this week! In Manhattan, they had the pleasure of experiencing famous and historical holiday sites as well as The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was a memorable day!
More information and updates will be added to this story as the fun continues before the week concludes!
