Manchester Township High School’s Helping Hands for Hunger initiative is asking for the Manchester community’s help. Entering into its 15th year, the Helping Hands for Hunger initiative provides school district families in need with confidential meal support during the Thanksgiving season. Manchester Township High School students and staff have already collected enough canned and non-perishable food donations, thanks to the generosity of the families and staff of surrounding Manchester Township School District’s schools. In order to try and meet demand, Helping Hands for Hunger currently needs support through gift card donations in order to purchase the fresh food items needed to complete the Helping Hands for Hunger donation meal baskets.
“Each year schools and clubs across the district participate by generously supporting Helping Hands for Hunger with the non-perishable donations that provide school families in need confidential support through meal baskets for the Thanksgiving season,” says Sarah Thiffault, Vice Principal of Manchester Township High School. “This year, in order for us to purchase perishable items such as turkeys and other fresh food for the baskets, we are in need of gift card donations to local grocery stores. Purchasing fresh food items with gift cards directly before the Helping Hands for Hunger basket distribution would provide us with the safest way to purchase and provide Thanksgiving staples, such as the turkey, for families in need. Those who are interested in supporting Helping Hands for Hunger in this way can mail or drop gift cards off to my attention at Manchester Township High School before November 13, 2023.”
