Manchester's Ridgeway Elementary School Staff Save Choking Child in Heroic Effort!

Ridgeway Elementary School staff members exemplified courage, quick thinking, and dedication to the safety of our students during a life-threatening situation that arose in a recent lunchroom incident. While supervising students during her lunch duty, Ms. Alyssa Testa sprang into action when she realized that a student had begun choking. Her immediate response to assess the situation demonstrated her unwavering commitment to our students' well-being.

As the situation escalated, Mr. Reid Stapp, a physical education teacher who was also on lunch duty during that same period, quickly intervened utilizing his training to perform the Heimlich maneuver on the student. Thanks to their swift actions and teamwork, the student was successfully assisted and safely walked to the school nurse for further evaluation.

The Manchester Township School District (MTSD) is incredibly fortunate to have Ms. Testa and Mr. Stapp as a part of our team. As discussed when they were recognized and applauded during the February Board of Education Meeting, their training and quick response not only saved a child's life but served as a powerful reminder of the importance for all staff members to remain prepared. Please join us in thanking Ms. Testa and Mr. Stapp for their heroic actions and commitment to Manchester's students!
